Ex-UFC Welterweight Ben Askren Agrees To Box Jake Paul Next March

Former [/sport/ufc-fighting/index.html UFC] welterweight Ben Askren will box YouTuber Jake Paul in March, 2021. 
The plan, as first revealed by former MMA fighter turned analyst Chael Sonnen, is for Paul to take on Askren and then [/sport/conor_mcgregor/index.html Conor McGregor]'s training partner Dillon Danis, who is 2-0 in Bellator.
Askren retired from MMA in October last year after suffering defeat by Demian Maia but believes coming back to box a social media celebrity is a no-brainer.

I know you called me out after your last fight against that bum Nate Robinson. 
'And listen, it is a pretty simple choice. I'm going to make a whole bunch of money to beat up a guy who is pretending to be an athlete, because at the end of the day, that's what you're doing. 
'I know you may think that I don't have too many stand-up skills but I don't really need to. 
'At the end of the day, I'm a world-class athlete.

I've won NCAA titles, rhc dornbirn been to the Olympics, won belts in multiple MMA organisations and quite frankly I am impressed that you've deluded yourself into thinking that you are actually a fighter, that you are really tough, that you can really box.

Paul knocked out former NBA star Robinson on the undercard of Roy Jones Jr vs Mike Tyson and the 23-year-old is looking to cash in on that momentum.

The 36-year-old entered the UFC late in his career with plenty of hype given his achievements as a dominant wrestler and then in the cage for other organisations. 
But after a submission win over Robbie Lawler, he was brutally knocked out by Jorge Masvidal with a flying knee just five seconds into their contest.
He then fought and lost to Maia before calling it quits and undergoing surgery on a persistent hip problem, which he is now confident he has recovered from.
