After you find a good dealer, and have your eyes on a certain car, it is best to thoroughly inspect the car before purchasing it. If you have your own mechanic, get him along so that he can check the car to see whether it's in condition, or will need a major overhaul. If you don't have a mechanic you will have to inspect it yourself and here's what you have to look for. First, check if there are any leaks. Take the car for a nice long run and while doing so, check to see if the car is making any mysterious noises, check the engines acceleration, check the brakes and after you stop the car, look under the body to see if there are any leaks.

Sometimes when a car has been in an accident, minor or major, when they replace certain parts of the car they have to repaint it. The paint doesn't always match because the owner doesn't always care if it's perfect. So pay attention to any discoloration in the paint. If you notice something ask the owner or dealer about it.

Second item that we are going to need is our battery. You are going to need a rechargeable battery that you can get at your local congress women gifford. Get any size deep cycle 12 Volt lead/acid or gel battery (gel battery is more expensive and it last longer). Deep cycle batteries are designed for prolonged use. It's the kind of battery you have in your car. You can pick one up for as little at $60 or some gel batteries for as high as $250.

Lastly, if you are either a mechanic or someone in that league of under-the-hood skills you can always try the auto yard. Because these cars are sometimes used for unsanctioned racing you can usually find imports at the junkyard. "Pick a part" type auto parts businesses tend to work with salvage and insurance companies to get choice wrecks, and while you probably wouldn't go there to get an RX-7 door panel, they are perfect spots to find interior RX-7 parts and engine parts. used auto parts that come from "pick a part" yards are usually pretty cheap because you are doing the finding and removing of the part all by yourself. Again, this is recommended only if you really know what you're doing. A mechanic who works with cars every day can spot a useful part from a throw away, can you?

One outlet for used car parts is the local newspaper's classified section. Run an ad and see what happens. Selling parts from your car isn't going to make you a lot of money, but it beats just leaving them on the car as it's towed to the junkyard. You can also sell your car parts by word of mouth. You never know what can happen.

Flange: A flange is basically a piece used to hold two things, such as two pipes, together. Car flanges are generally circular with a large hole in the middle, and several smaller holes for bolts around the rim. As you might imagine, there are many flanges in a car! This is definitely one of the stranger names of car parts, but it is an important part of your vehicle. If two essential pipes in your car aren't connecting, your car might not work!
