It was quite revealing.'
Responsibility: Speaking exclusively to Mail Online ahead of the launch of Malibu's Coconut Challenge, the Dancing On Ice judge, 31, discussed what it's like isolating with his dance troupe Diversity and admitted he feels the pressure of being responsible for their welfare
He went on to say that after months of being at home, he now plans to travel and see people more as he admitted that he took these things for granted previously.
He explained: 'Even though it didn't happen that often, we take for granted that we can get up and go anywhere we wanted at any given time and that's something that I thought, wow, I don't do that enough.
'I always say 'we will, we will', so I'll definitely get out and travel more.

And even just meeting up. I don't consider myself a social person because I'm always so busy, but I've realised that actually I am. I miss people and I miss being with people, I've been a part of a group my whole life.'
Meanwhile, the dancer opened up on isolating with Diversity, after the group decided to live together so that they could continue to rehearse and perform.
He said: 'We're on lockdown together and went from not seeing each other, to seeing each other everyday.

We all got tested and they all came back negative, and once the tests came back, we all become a household.
Candid: Ashley, who shares daughter Rose, 17 months, and son Micah, 14 months, with wife Francesca Abbott, said: 'I've learnt how fragile all of this is.

We put a lot of emphasis on a life and what we do (pictured with his family)
'We're touring and living together now, it's pretty cool.

It's like being back at Uni!
On how he's coping living with his fellow BGT winners, he explained: 'I'm a very hectic, go go go person. A couple of the boys have had their feet up with a cup of tea watching Coronation Street.
Whereas I'm a lot more in it. We'll work things out, work out runs and rehearse and then we'll go and perform. So it's all pretty active, it's fun.'
However, while its all fun living and touring with the group, Ashley also confessed that amid the impact that the virus has had on people, their jobs and their livelihoods, he felt the weight of responsibility for Diversity.
He told MailOnline: 'As an employer, like so many others, I was sitting there thinking, I have to do my best by my employees.
'It doesn't make it easier for anyone else but for me, 80% of those people are my friends and family, so it was like I had to make sure that they were OK.
Perspective: 'What I've realised is, oh gosh, it takes something invisible, something we can't even see to turn it on its head.

'And I think you get more perspective on what really matters and even the person you are.'
'I had to think about the business, check on everyone's health… all of a sudden, things that were just material, they seemed to not matter as much.
On whether he felt the pressure of responsibility, he said: 'Of course.
But touch wood, everything is good.'
And while Diversity are certainly on track, Ashley revealed that he hopes all will be OK with Dancing On Ice when he returns as a judge early next year.
'Touch wood that everything happens as normal because right now we're not sure that everything's going to happen as it should', he explained.

'I'm not sure personally what's going to happen but I'm really excited for it to come back.'
Amid news that the ITV show will have to make many adjustments to adhere to social distancing guidelines, including the idea of the celebrities isolating with their professional skate partners, Ashley said it would simply be a case of following the rules.
Fun times: 'We all got tested and they all came back negative, and once the tests came back, we all become a household. 'We're touring and living together now, it's pretty cool.

It's like being back at Uni!'
Duty of care: 'It doesn't make it easier for anyone else but for me, 80% of those people are my friends and family, so it was like I had to make sure that they were OK'
He said: 'If we had to make Dancing On Ice tomorrow, right now we have a set of rules to follow, it would mean people being away and isolating and all sorts.
'It's a bit what I'm doing with Diversity right now, I'm away from my family.

But obviously, the show starts in January and that's some time away, so who knows what it'll be like then. '
Giving his thoughts about another possibility of the show potentially going ahead without a live audience, he added: 'There's been plenty of shows that have gone on without live audiences and worked.
'If that was ever the case, [https://themomsite.hpage.com/what-are-the-fun-things-to-do-at-home.html themomsite.hpage.com] I'm sure they'd get around it.
But of course, a live audience is an amazing tool for energy, I live for live audiences, so yeah, it'll be interesting.'
And while there's a few months to go until Dancing On Ice hits TV screens, in the interim, Ashley has been working on a new project that has seen him join forces with Malibu to 'bring a little bit of sunshine to the world' with the launch of #TheCoconutChallenge.
Importance: 'I had to think about the business, check on everyone's health… all of a sudden, things that were just material, they seemed to not matter as much'
Alongside over 30 Malibu Ambassadors from seven different countries including former X Factor star Fleur East, Ashley will perform his take on a choreographed routine by renowned choreographer Matt Steffanina, dancing to The Coconut Nut Malibu Remix, which is mixed by American DJ and producer Dillon Francis.
Fans will have a chance to feature in Dillon's crowdsourced music video (scheduled to premier this Summer), simply by showcasing their own moves and tagging their social media posts with #TheCoconutChallange.
Discussing his involvement in the challenge, he said: 'It sounded fun and it will spread a bit of positivity.

From the moment Malibu got in touch and I heard Dillon Francis was remixing the song and I heard they just wanted to bring a little bit of sunshine into people's lives, I was like yeah absolutely!
'I learnt the dance and I got Diversity together and we literally just spent the day dancing around and learning the challenge and listening to the song, it was the kind of vibe I wanted to put out to everyone else.'
New series: 'Touch wood that everything happens as normal because right now we're not sure that everything's going to happen as it should...

but I'm really excited for it to come back' (pictured with his fellow DOI judges in February)
He continued: 'What I like about dance is that it's so expressive.

You can never have two dancers and two choreographers the same. I've always been a fan of Matt, he's worked so hard and built up an incredible brand, so I was definitely happy to jump on and be a part of something he choreographed.'
And while the Britain's Got Talent winner is known for his impeccable dance skills on stage, he says it's far different from being on a dancefloor at a party and admits to feeling pressure to live up to his reputation.
He said: 'When I'm out and about, I'll definitely be up on the dancefloor.

I'm into music, so if we're having a party with friends, I'll definitely have a dance but I'm not on centre stage, I'm on a dancefloor!
'That's what dancefloors feel like to me, they're too similar to stages sometimes. If I were to stand on a dancefloor, people will definitely look.
'If you saw me on a dancefloor and I did a step wrong you'd quickly judge me, wouldn't you!

I have to be on point for myself, not even for other people.'
New project: Ashley has joined forces with Malibu to 'bring a little bit of sunshine to the world' with the launch of #TheCoconutChallenge
So what does that mean for the stimulus bill -- are negotiations over and done with?
Not necessarily. In a [ joint statement] on Saturday, Democratic negotiators, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi and Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer, encouraged talks over the stimulus package to resume.

"Democrats repeat our call to Republicans to return to the table, meet us halfway and work together to deliver immediate relief to the American people. Lives are being lost, and time is of the essence."

A day before announcing and signing his actions, Trump said his administration was [ working in "good faith"] to reach an agreement with Democratic leaders, and was expected to hold his signature until next week. [ In his statement] supporting the president's decision, Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell didn't rule out further talks, though he didn't commit to resuming discussions.

So what now? Here's what we know today. This story updates often as the news develops.

CNET Coronavirus Update

Keep track of the coronavirus pandemic.

Scenario 1: A stimulus bill agreement happens next week
As of last week, the House of Representatives and White House negotiators tackling the details of the stimulus proposal have signaled a willingness to continue talks -- as long as both sides budge. (More below for what the sticking points are.)

"The president would like us to make a deal, but unfortunately, we did not make any progress today," Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin [ said Friday], a day before Trump's executive actions were announced. "To the extent that they are willing to make new proposals, [White House Chief of Staff Mark Meadows] and I will be back any time to listen to new proposals."

If talks pick up again on Monday, the legislation could presumably go to a vote in one chamber as soon as Tuesday or Wednesday. Both chambers must vote before the legislation lands on Trump's desk for his signature. If it follows the timeline for the CARES Act, which was passed in March and has since lapsed, a new bill could become law within three days after the Senate votes.

When could the stimulus bill pass?

House votes

Senate votes

President signs

Timeline no. 1: Legislation passes next week

Aug. 11

Aug. 12

Aug. 13

Aug. 12

Aug. 13

Aug. 14

Aug. 13

Aug. 14

Aug. 17

Aug. 14

Aug. 17

Aug. 18

Scenario 2: Trump's executive orders don't stick

Following the advice of his advisors, Trump signed one executive order and three memoranda to spur action on eviction relief, extending the enhanced federal unemployment benefits, providing student loan relief and creating a payroll tax cut. The latter has been an agenda item favored by Trump for [https://themomsite.hpage.com/what-are-the-fun-things-to-do-at-home.html https://themomsite.hpage.com/what-are-the-fun-things-to-do-at-home.html] the stimulus bill but was dropped by the Senate and his negotiators.

The executive orders have bypassed the negotiations currently taking place between the Democratic-led House and the administration, but detractors have cast doubt whether the actions will [ effectively help people]. There are also questions as to Trump's ability to [ legally make certain decisions] that [ constitutionally require an act of Congress]. And there's been talk that some programs, which are vaguely described, [ may take months to enact].

If the order and memoranda are tied up in court, that could pave the way for renewed talks by both parties.
Scenario 3: Talks stop, no completion of the executive order
Another option, [ which could devastate millions of Americans], is that there is no deal at all. This could happen if both sides refuse to return to the table and compromise on the main sticking points in the bill and if Trump's executive actions don't progress. The bill could also die if, after a deal is reached, the Republican-led Senate votes it down after a Democratic-led House vote.

The end of all talks will be devastating to millions of Americans.

Sarah Tew/CNET
What's been holding up the stimulus deal?
The Senate, House of Representatives and White House all agree a second stimulus check that will send payments directly to Americans is [ essential to help] turn the [/news/coronavirus-recession-how-bad-it-could-get-and-what-it-means-for-you/ current recession] around. The problem is that Republicans and Democrats can't agree on how much help is needed.

"There are a lot of areas of compromise," [ Mnuchin said Friday] after another round of talks on the bill. "If we can reach an agreement on state and local and unemployment, we will reach an overall deal. And if we can't, we can't."

[ Pelosi said] that Democrats have attempted compromise, but haven't been met in the middle by Republicans.

"I offered to them, we'll take down a trillion if you add a trillion in," Pelosi said late Friday. "They said, 'Absolutely not.'"

Schumer echoed Pelosi's sentiments for compromise on the bill. "Meet us in the middle — for God's sake, please — for the sake of America, meet us in the middle," he told Republicans on Friday.

At issue is the cost of the overall stimulus package. The Senate's HEALS Act would cost $1 trillion, while the House Democrats stipulated $3 trillion total in its [/news/heals-vs-cares-vs-heroes-the-biggest-sticking-points-in-the-proposals-and-how-they-compare/ Heroes Act proposal from May]. (The CARES Act, which delivered $1,200 stimulus checks to Americans earlier this year, was worth $2.2 trillion.)

Democrats and Republicans have been disagreeing on how much relief aid should be included in the stimulus package.

Sarah Tew/CNET
What else could delay the stimulus package?
After the House votes, the Senate might disagree with certain parts of the bill. If that happens, the Senate can send the bill back to the House with changes and ask Pelosi and the House to agree with those changes. If either the House and the Senate disagree with some portion of a bill, they can call for further negotiations to get to a final version.

Once the Senate secures a full vote and passes the bill, the legislation moves to Trump's desk. In the typical lawmaking process, the president has 10 days to sign or veto the bill. It's unlikely Trump will wait to sign the bill once it reaches him, since he signed the CARES Act about a day after the Senate passed it.

There could also be further delays if Trump moves to repurpose unspent federal dollars for unemployment and it's challenged legally.

For more information, we've looked at [/news/second-stimulus-check-when-could-the-irs-send-it-if-congress-makes-a-deal-next-week/ how soon you might get your second stimulus check] and compared the [/news/heals-vs-cares-vs-heroes-the-biggest-sticking-points-in-the-proposals-and-how-they-compare/ HEALS, CARES and Heroes] stimulus proposals.

[#comments Comments]

[/personal-finance/budgeting/ Budgeting]

[/topics/politics/ Politics]

[/personal-finance/ Personal Finance]

[ Notification on Notification off How to]
